We had a wonderful stay at a beautiful temple lodge in Koyasan. the Kongo Sanmaiin was in a great location, easy to access from the bus stop. the monks were friendly and provided us with all the necessary information in English. Our traditional room with a private toilet was comfortable and had a nice view of the backyard. the temple itself was stunning, with some buildings dating back to 1242. the peaceful atmosphere, surrounded by old cedar trees, made for a truly serene experience. We also had the opportunity to join the morning prayers, which was a unique and memorable experience. the traditional breakfast served in our room was delicious. Cons: No complaints.

I liked that the hotel had a friendly and helpful staff who spoke English. They provided clear information and showed me to my room, which was clean and spacious. The location was convenient, with easy access to public transportation and nearby attractions. the hotel had a peaceful and quiet atmosphere, perfect for a relaxing stay.
The shared bathroom was only open until 9 pm, making it inconvenient for guests who wanted to enjoy a night tour or stay out late. the hotel did not provide enough water to make tea, which was quite frustrating.

We stayed at a charming ryokan near the monastery, providing a full immersion in Japanese culture. the location was convenient, close to the bus stop, market, and restaurants. the staff were friendly and the room was spacious and warm, with traditional design. Although there was a public bathroom, the ryokan provided comfortable accommodations. we enjoyed the morning chanting and the beautiful garden views from our windows.
The futons provided were uncomfortable, which affected our overall sleep quality.

Located near the main temple, Kongo Sanmaiin offers a convenient location for exploring the surrounding area. Guests mentioned a nice walk on the main street and the proximity to Okunoin cemetery, providing a peaceful and quiet atmosphere. The traditional room with a view to the backyard was appreciated, making for a pleasant stay. The morning prayers were a unique experience for guests, adding to the cultural immersion. Additionally, a nearby restaurant attached to another temple provided a lucky find for visitors.
Some guests mentioned that the value for the accommodation did not match the price, leaving them feeling like they had paid too much compared to other options in the area.

The morning prayer ceremony with the monks was a truly unique experience. The vegetarian breakfast was delicious and the tea and kimonos provided added a special touch. Despite a few minor inconveniences, overall I highly recommend this peaceful retreat.

The guest facilities were SUPER clean and cozy, providing a jaw-dropping sense of comfort. The public bath was mind-blowing and spotless, offering a relaxing experience. The delicious and fulfilling breakfast left me in awe. The peaceful atmosphere helped me have a comfortable sleep on the comfortable futon bed with a bean-filled pillow. The shared bathroom was never crowded, in fact, it was empty during my visit. The heated bath was a delightful treat after a long day of exploring. The staff were incredibly nice and helpful. The location, close to the main road and town center, was convenient. The tasty and good breakfast was absolutely satisfying. The availability of small lockers in the common area for storing valuables was a bonus. The functioning air conditioning and free wifi were greatly appreciated. Plus, the large sink in the private toilet room allowed for easy washing in the morning. Lastly, the nearby convenience store, just a 2-minute walk away, was open late, providing convenience throughout my stay.
